Volunteers worked for 12+ years to raise funds and oversee restoration work in Saint Mary’s Churchyard and adjoining cemetary. Thanks to support from Pateley Bridge Town Council‘s Mayor’s Fund, Harrogate Borough Council’s Bereavement Service, and generous individual donations, 345 fallen memorials were restored.
In 2019 the group, headed up by Dr. Joanna Moody, received a commemorative plaque, to recognise their hard work. The group received national recognition in The Dalesman magazine, and Cemetery Magazine.
